Meter

Definition: Pattern of rhythm/ stresses and unstressed syllables.

Example:

~      ~   /   ~    ~      /   ~    ~    /
From  the  centre  all  round  to  the  sea,
~   ~    /   ~    ~    /     ~    ~      /
I  am  lord  of  the  fowl  and  the  brute.

Significance: The pattern of rhythm make the poem easier to read and interpret
